Scanning a Collage for a Boulder Family
Boulder Collage Scan by Van Gogh Again |
In this case, the client was a mom who had made a collage of her son's high school experience out of pictures taken over the last 4 years. Most of our non-business related projects have been for families who have old family photos they want to scan. Sometimes they even have a digital files, but they want to print onto canvas for a more exciting look.
On this particular project, I started thinking once again about this advantages of using a large format scanner like the one we have at Van Gogh Again. Normally I would brag about the size and quality of the scanner, but in this case, a flat-bed scanner was simply the safest choice.
When it comes to scanning a collage or any mixed media piece, you run the danger of ripping of the components during the scanning process. Sheet-feed scanners and drum scanners are not options for these kinds of projects. The beauty of a large-format flat bed scanner is that you simply lay the piece down onto the scanner and press go. All of the moving parts of the scanner are on the other side of the glass.

Scan Your Artwork Before the Summer Shows
Van Gogh Again scans original artwork for a number of professional artists who spend a good portion of their summers at the summer shows promoting their art. Now that spring is here it's just a few months before they'll be heading out to the shows.
Be sure to have your original artwork scanned and color corrected before it's too late. Most of us know how difficult it can be to get a piece back from the collector for scanning once it's sold. If you plan on having any fine art reproduction prints made of your art, or if you're simply interested in keeping a hi res image of your work for the archives or web, you should act now!
Contact Van Gogh Again for more information about their scanning and fine art reproduction services.

Denver Scanning - Step 1 in Fine Art Reproduction
"Risk" by Sophy Brown - Scanned at 70 x 43 |
Of course simply using a scanner is not enough. Like most technology, some scanners are better than other scanners, and some scanning companies produce better results than other scanning companies. It's important at this stage of the fine art reproduction process not to slack. Even the best printers out there may not be able to work with a poor image capture. You may never have an opportunity to scan your original artwork again. That's why it's so important to get done right the first time.
Van Gogh Again is Denver's best scanning company. That's why Colorado artists choose Van Gogh Again. Contact Van Gogh Again for more information about their scanning and Giclée printing services.
